The Challenge
CUNY experienced a significant rise in absenteeism—from around 15% pre-pandemic to over 25% recently—revealing a gap in communication and accountability between students and professors. The challenge was to design an application that not only tracks attendance reliably but also bridges this communication gap.
The Solution
The strategy behind Class Connect involved developing clear, distinct task and user flows for both students and educators, integrating features like real-time absence alerts and progress monitoring to foster transparency and encourage engagement.
Class Connect reimagined attendance systems by bridging communication gaps through clear task flows for logging absences, tracking attendance, and sending reminders. Its user-friendly prototypes and interactive dashboards ensure seamless tracking, transparency, and engagement, effectively curbing absenteeism while strengthening the connection between students and professors at CUNY.
