Overview

In 10 weeks, our student CCL club team aside with the Students Affair Office turned BMCC’s bathroom‐stall newspaper into a vibrant print-to-digital experience. We created bold posters with a single scannable QR code that sends students to a mobile-first webtoon offering two paths: an “Info Comic” with clear, step-by-step guides and a parallel “Story Comic” that delivers the same information through a more visual, narrative format. To keep the campaign top-of-mind, we also produced collectible QR-linked cards (alongside stickers, promotional videos, social media and other merch) that students can carry and scan for instant access to campus support services.

The Challenge

Low visibility & time constraints: Traditional SSJ was too text-heavy and placed too high to capture busy students. Diverse student body: BMCC’s 20.000 students span 155 countries, 111 languages, 50% first-gen, 50% below poverty—requiring truly inclusive, accessible design. Seamless print→digital journey: Hook a student in 5 seconds on a stall, then guide them via QR into deeper content. Consistent identity: Unite print, web, social, and video under one cohesive SSJ “universe.”

The Solution

Visual Identity & Icons New “Stall Street Journal” graffiti-meets-smartphone logo. Interchangeable app icons and event-themed variants. Print Posters Four bold layouts featuring minimal headlines, teaser art, and a single, scannable QR code.
